Equipment

  • Whisk

Ingredients

Ranch Base:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives minced
  • 1 clove garlic minced or pressed
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Hot Honey Component:

  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons hot sauce
  • 1-2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika

Instructions

Prepare the Hot Honey:

  • In a small saucepan, combine honey, hot sauce, red pepper flakes, apple cider vinegar, and smoked paprika.
  • Warm over medium-low heat, stirring gently for 2-3 minutes until slightly thinned. Avoid boiling.
  • Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature (about 15-20 minutes).

Create the Ranch Base:

  • In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together mayonnaise and buttermilk until smooth.
  • Add minced garlic, onion powder, salt, and black pepper; whisk to combine.
  • Fold in fresh dill, parsley, and chives gently.

Combine and Finish:

  • Once the hot honey has cooled, pour about three-quarters into the ranch base; reserve the rest.
  • Gently whisk to incorporate. Taste and adjust seasoning or heat level with reserved hot honey.
  • Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

  • Substitutions:
    • For a lighter version, substitute half the mayonnaise with Greek yogurt.
    • If buttermilk is unavailable, mix ½ cup milk with 1½ teaspoons lemon juice; let stand for 5 minutes.
  • Consistency Adjustment:
    • For a thicker dip, reduce buttermilk to ⅓ cup.
  • Storage:
    • Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Stir before each use.
