For the Blueberry Syrup:
- 2 cups fresh blueberries or frozen
- ½ cup honey or maple syrup/agave
- ¼ cup water reduce if using frozen berries
- 1 tbsp lemon juice fresh preferred
- 1 tsp vanilla extract or ¼ tsp almond extract
For the Tea Base:
- 4 black tea bags English Breakfast, Earl Grey, or Ceylon
- 4 cups water filtered recommended
- 2 tbsp honey adjust to taste
- 1 cinnamon stick optional, or sub ginger/cardamom
For the Lemonade Layer:
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice ~6-8 lemons
- ½ cup honey or sugar adjust for sweetness
- 3 cups cold water
For Serving:
- Ice cubes regular or tea-infused
- Fresh blueberries
- Fresh mint sprigs
- Lemon slices or twists
Step 1: Make the Blueberry Syrup
In a saucepan, combine blueberries, honey, water, and lemon juice over medium heat.
Simmer for 10 minutes, mashing the berries gently as they burst.
Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and let cool for 10 minutes.
Strain through a fine-mesh sieve and set aside to cool completely.
Step 2: Brew the Tea
Boil 4 cups of water, then remove from heat.
Add tea bags and cinnamon stick; cover and steep for 5 minutes.
Remove tea bags and stir in honey while warm.
Let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate.
Step 3: Prepare the Lemonade
In a pitcher, mix fresh lemon juice and honey/sugar until dissolved.
Add cold water, stir, and refrigerate.
Step 4: Assemble the Drink
For individual servings:
Fill glasses with ice.
Pour half full with tea.
Add 2 tbsp blueberry syrup, letting it sink naturally.
Top with lemonade, pouring gently for a layered effect.
Garnish with blueberries, mint, and lemon slices.
For a pitcher:
Mix tea and lemonade in a pitcher.
Add blueberry syrup last, stirring lightly for a swirl effect.
Serve over ice and garnish as desired.
